As a Vice-Chairman, you will most likely have the most interaction with the members. In the summer, you have all of the active member talks and you are also actively promoting active membership. During these talks, it is very important that you make (new) members feel welcome and give them the feeling that you are accessible. You are namely the first person of the board who members will reach out to in case of questions or remarks. During the summer, you are also responsible for the division of members in committees. This is sometimes quite challenging and therefore knowledge of human nature is required.
As a Vice-Chairman you always seek possibilities to connect with people and to interact with them. To stay in touch with your members, you preserve the continuity of the association. Therefore, the function of Vice-Chairman is quite important since the association would be nothing without members.

Now that you know a bit more about the general tasks and importance of my function, let’s take a look at some of my responsibilities. In total, I am coordinator of five committees from Asset | Economics: the Yearbook Committee, Economics Events Committee, Economics Battle Committee, Freshmen Committee and Multimedia Committee. There is a lot of variety within these committees. One committee is more serious than the other, which means you need to set out different approaches. This amount of committees also means that I have lots of meetings per week. However, because of this I am able to interact with people and that is what I love the most.
Next to being coordinator, As Vice-Chairman, I also participate in the Public Relations Meeting (PM) together with all of the other Vices of the other departments. Within this organ, I am responsible for the Events portfolio, which means that I am coordinator of Asset Events. They are in charge of organising events like the COdE and Gala. We already organised multiple events and the second COdE Cantus is next week already!
Another important responsibility I have is maintaining our Social Media channels (except for LinkedIn). Especially in these times it is important that people do not forget who you are as an association. That is why we decided to focus more on our Social Media channels by posting more often. We also have an Active Members Instagram account, which I manage together with the Multimedia Committee. This is a great opportunity to show your creativity as Vice-Chairman, and keep an informal touch with your members.

As Vice-Chairman, you will sometimes be seen as the one who is the least serious of the board and the one that creates most of the atmosphere. This is due to the fact that members mostly see you during informal moments. And of course, this is definitely true, albeit partly. This does not mean that there is no space for development. The main reason for me to apply for a board year was to develop myself on a personal as well as on a professional level. So far, a board year has helped me to work on my weaknesses and to improve my strengths! Another advantage of being a board member is the amount of new people you meet. This is absolutely one of my favourite things about being a boardie.

In conclusion, being the Vice-Chairman of Asset | Economics gives you the opportunity to meet a lot of new people and to preserve the continuity of the association. Besides this, you are able to develop yourself, acquire skills you thought you would never learn and you will have an incredible year with your amazing fellow boardies.
