END OF THE YEAR
Dear members,
Since 2021 is coming to an end, I want to thank you for all your hard work and your involvement in our beautiful association.
At the beginning of the year, we had a flying start and began the new academic year highly motivated. We started a new committee which turned out to be a great success, organised an extra event especially for second year students which led to several new members and a stunning number of 20 people became an active member at our association.
The new academic year brought a lot of new opportunities and everything seemed to go our way. We could enjoy several activities, all without having to worry about Covid-19. I think my highlight of the first semester would definitely be our Study Tour to Prague. On this trip you could see what Asset | Economics is all about; experiencing fun times with fellow students. My proudest moments as your chairman might sound a bit strange but those would be at the several canti we went to. Seeing all the members in full attire, singing shoulder by shoulder and having a great time together, those were the moments when I looked at my board and expressed that I am very happy to be part of the board of this association.
But unfortunately, the pandemic became a bigger part of our lives again. Right before new measurements, the events committee was able to organise one of our biggest parties. With almost 400 registrations, this party certainly showed what we are capable of. After this highlight, there were also some lows. Our Gala and Economics Dinner had to be postponed. Hopefully, we will be able to experience these and other events in the near future. Some of our best events such as the Talent Day and the Business Data Challenge but also our Active Members Weekend and the Study Tour to Malta will take place in the second semester. Let’s hope those events will not have to be postponed, or even worse, cancelled, so we can enjoy more moments together.
Thank you for the time you invest in your committee and sometimes the patience the work requires in these Covid-19 times. I speak on behalf of the whole board if I say that we value every single member very much, and we can’t wait to see you again in 2022.
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
Shaye Olij
Chairman 2021-2022
